About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Human Resources Manager to support our community team in Williamsburg, VA. This role serves as the primary point of contact for associates and managers on all HR-related matters, including policy interpretation, recruitment, employee relations, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general guidance and interpretation to associates and managers on company human resources policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for associates at assigned community(s).
  • Advise management on hiring decisions, equal employment opportunity, employee relations, compensation, benefits, OSHA, and health/safety issues.
  • Manage recruitment activities, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and orienting new employees.
  • Develop and implement associate orientation programs.
  • Handle inquiries and complaints, investigate complex associate issues, and resolve or refer them to the corporate office in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain employee relations records and prepare statistical reports concerning staffing and employee relations.
  • Serve as the primary contact with payroll to investigate and resolve pay issues and interpret corporate payroll policies.
  • Conduct exit interviews with community office staff to determine reasons for separation and develop retention recommendations.
  • Develop human resources presentation materials and forms as needed.
  • Train management on leadership and HR skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field from a four-year college.
  • Minimum of three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) is preferred; or desire/willingness to acquire.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law (federal and state).
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Skills

  • Strong decision-making skills, applying existing guidelines and procedures to solve moderately complex problems.
  • Sound judgment and experience in problem-solving based on precedent, example, or reasonableness.
  • Working knowledge of a functional discipline and thorough understanding of the organization and work environment.

Pay

Base pay will be determined by the applicant’s skills and experience.
