About the role
This position reports directly to the HR Director with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager. The Plant HR Manager functions as the HR Business Partner for a manufacturing facility, aligning HR objectives with strategic organizational goals. The successful candidate will serve as a partner, coach, and resource to the plant team, guiding management in areas such as employee relations, labor relations, leadership development, change management, performance consulting, diversity management, conflict management, and legal compliance.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the plant to improve business results and meet objectives.
- Serve as the primary plant process owner for payroll and benefits.
- Assist in developing effective long-term staffing plans to hire the right people in the right jobs at the right time.
- Plan, develop, and implement wage and salary programs aligned with business strategy and external competitive concerns.
- Provide expertise on leadership development, performance management, change management, resource planning, and salary planning.
- Consult with employees at all levels by listening objectively and providing solutions that support positive business results.
- Participate in the development of corporate and departmental goals, focusing on alignment across supported departments.
- Educate and monitor management actions to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
- Evaluate changing demographics, legal, and technical developments to develop new programs that meet the corporation’s needs.
- Challenge and direct the plant management team to apply Trivium values in day-to-day actions and decisions.
- Facilitate Organizational Health Initiatives (OHI).
- Integrate Trivium standards of Leadership into systems such as Performance Management, Succession Planning, and the Selection process.
- Review personnel actions, including merit increases, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions, ensuring compliance with internal and external controls.
- Manage the uniform application of policies and procedures and the application of discipline.
- Manage and track safety training, plant incidents/accidents, and safety programs, plus case management for worker’s compensation, to ensure a safe work environment.
- Assist sector HR leadership in projects as needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in HR strongly preferred; Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field with eight years of progressive experience in human resources at a management level.
- Experience independently identifying, developing, and leading key strategic projects to meet corporate business goals.
- Ability to guide efforts of plant-level HR resources to identify opportunities and lead change.
- Knowledge of HRIS and payroll software to ensure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and administrative compliance consistent with regulatory and internal practices.
- Ability to utilize available data for assessing the progress of key initiatives.
- Effective problem-solving and dispute resolution skills.
- Experience and comfort working in a team-based matrix environment at a high level.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to improve the effectiveness of employee engagement efforts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of employees, especially during difficult and challenging situations.
- Knowledge in talent acquisition, performance management, and retention.
- Experience in preparing and delivering training to employees on HR/policy topics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Work Environment
This position performs a majority of job duties in an office environment where using a computer, telephone, and printer are common. Time spent on the manufacturing floor will be required; the noise level in that environment is usually very loud. Employees must wear hearing protection and all other assigned Personal Protective Equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (<40 degrees) to extreme heat (>90 degrees). The atmosphere contains fumes, dust, and odors.
