About the Role
As a member of our senior leadership team, you will lead HR operations for our long-standing Milwaukee brands, including our catering division and flagship restaurant. Working with our Coordinators, divisional leaders, and the ownership team, this HR professional will balance tactical business needs with forward-thinking strategies to streamline operations and support our team of "The Finest hospitalitarians" in town. Daily activities will vary based on team needs, ensuring no two days are the same.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership, management, and guidance, including task assignment and performance management for the Human Resources Generalist.
- Operate with a solutions-driven approach to facilitate growth and scalability of operations through process and leadership development.
- Make data-driven decisions to drive employee engagement, retention, and growth through innovative programs, outreach, and benefits.
- Balance employee needs with organizational goals while engaging with community, industry, or occupational groups for professional development.
- Conduct the full recruiting process, from position review and posting to resume screening, interviews, and candidate communications.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for HRIS and timekeeping systems, including database maintenance and vendor coordination.
- Collaborate with the Training Manager to develop and deliver ongoing training for team, department, and area leaders.
- Manage the employee performance management system and review schedule, providing guidance on goals, feedback, and review development.
- Monitor SHG’s compensation model and benefits offerings to ensure compliant, equitable pay scales and decisions.
- Update and develop corporate programs, documents, and policies in conjunction with the executive team and property leaders.
- Work with leaders to create an annual recruiting plan and complete periodic, monthly, and annual reporting (e.g., ACA, vacation hours, 401(k) census).
- Interface with the DWD/Wisconsin Unemployment Insurance division regarding open UI cases.
- Set up, launch, and manage the annual Top Workplace Survey and other employee surveys.
- Ensure timely, compliant access to SHG benefits programs, including COBRA.
- Manage ADA accommodation needs and FMLA requests, certification, and determination.
- Ensure legal compliance and best practices across all HR operations.
- Submit timely, accurate bi-weekly reporting to facilitate payroll processing.
- In the absence of the HR Generalist, lead employee onboarding events, conduct orientation, and serve as the point of contact for employees, managers, and vendors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, business, or a related discipline (additional experience may be considered in lieu of education).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources, including 3 years in a supervisory capacity (HR or other occupation).
- SHRM-CP or HRCI-PHR certification preferred.
- Hospitality experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, and/or Applicant Tracking Systems.
Qualifications
- Ability to stand or sit for up to 8 hours at a time.
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs to chest level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional discretion, sound judgment, and dedication to maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficiency in using computers, the internet, and various software programs.

Pay
Starting salary based on experience, with eligibility for quarterly bonuses.
