About the role
MV Transportation is seeking a Human Resources Manager who serves as the local resource that plans, directs, and coordinates the administrative functions of the workforce. This individual acts as a link between employees and management, ensuring effective provision of customer service-oriented transportation.
Responsibilities
- Source, recruit, and hire employees.
- Maintain financial, payroll, personnel, reporting, and other records as needed.
- Develop and implement innovative recruitment approaches to find and attract unique and specialized talent.
- Establish a hiring process including reviewing applications or resumes, screening applicants, interviewing potential employees, and conducting reference and background checks.
- Ensure all personnel records are accurately maintained, including documentation of required training, certifications, and compliance.
- Administer compensation and benefit programs.
- Address concerns or complaints from staff, investigate complaints, and document findings for review by regional and corporate compliance staff.
- Develop and implement initiatives to improve and maintain employee satisfaction and retention, and to minimize turnover.
- Review and shape organization policies and rules to stay compliant and enhance performance.
- Develop and revise job descriptions and training/certification checklists.
- Monitor staffing and projected work levels, and communicate with the General Manager, Safety and Training Manager, and Operations Manager regarding anticipated changes in required staffing levels.
- Ensure employee evaluations and reviews are administered on-time and objectively.
- Participate in regular meetings with the General Manager and other departments to ensure the achievement of stated performance goals.
- Ensure compliance with client, company, state, and federal employment requirements.
- Serve as Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) officer for the location.
- Act as liaison with representatives of an employee union.
Requirements
- Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years in Human Resource management with 200+ employees.
- Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
- Human Resources certifications are a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills in dealing with employees at all levels of the organization.
