Human Resources Intern (Part Time)
About the Role
Opengate is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to support the Human Resources department with day-to-day operations and special projects. This internship offers hands-on experience in a nonprofit healthcare and human services environment, providing exposure to talent acquisition, onboarding, employee engagement, HR compliance, and employee relations. The HR Intern will work closely with the HR team while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruiting activities, including posting positions, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Support the onboarding process by preparing new hire paperwork, orientation materials, employee referrals, and personnel files.
- Maintain accurate employee records in ADP Workforce Now and electronic personnel files.
- Assist with HR audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and agency requirements.
- Support employee recognition, wellness initiatives, and employee engagement events.
- Help create HR communications, newsletters, flyers, and training materials.
- Assist with updating policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials.
- Support benefits administration during open enrollment and new hire orientation.
- Conduct research for HR projects, compliance updates, and best practices.
- Provide administrative support to the HR department, including filing, scanning, data entry, and preparing reports.
- Participate in special HR projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Experience with Canva or other design software is a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred) is a plus.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Hourly rate: $15.00.
