We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to support daily HR operations for a growing organization in Houston, Texas. This contract-to-permanent position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can balance compliance, employee support, and administrative leadership while helping the business maintain efficient and well-organized HR practices. The role will partner closely with leadership to manage core human resources functions, strengthen policies, and improve the employee experience across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Administer payroll activities through Paylocity, ensuring timely and accurate processing for employees.
  • Monitor adherence to employment regulations at the federal, state, and local levels and help maintain compliant HR practices.
  • Lead HR audit preparation and coordinate reporting activities to support internal and external compliance requirements.
  • Manage unemployment claims by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and tracking case activity.
  • Direct onboarding efforts for new employees, including paperwork completion, orientation support, and process coordination.
  • Advise managers and employees on workplace concerns, helping resolve employee relations matters consistently and effectively.
  • Maintain organized and accurate personnel files, HR records, and supporting documentation across employee lifecycle events.
  • Support performance management activities, policy interpretation, and the application of sound HR best practices.
  • Partner with company leadership on day-to-day human resources needs and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a Human Resources Manager or similar HR leadership role.
  • Hands-on knowledge of payroll administration, preferably using Paylocity.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance standards.
  • Experience handling employee relations matters with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with onboarding processes, HR administration, and employee record management.
  • Working knowledge of benefits-related functions and HRIS platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
