We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to support daily HR operations for a growing organization in Houston, Texas. This contract-to-permanent position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can balance compliance, employee support, and administrative leadership while helping the business maintain efficient and well-organized HR practices. The role will partner closely with leadership to manage core human resources functions, strengthen policies, and improve the employee experience across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Administer payroll activities through Paylocity, ensuring timely and accurate processing for employees.
- Monitor adherence to employment regulations at the federal, state, and local levels and help maintain compliant HR practices.
- Lead HR audit preparation and coordinate reporting activities to support internal and external compliance requirements.
- Manage unemployment claims by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and tracking case activity.
- Direct onboarding efforts for new employees, including paperwork completion, orientation support, and process coordination.
- Advise managers and employees on workplace concerns, helping resolve employee relations matters consistently and effectively.
- Maintain organized and accurate personnel files, HR records, and supporting documentation across employee lifecycle events.
- Support performance management activities, policy interpretation, and the application of sound HR best practices.
- Partner with company leadership on day-to-day human resources needs and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a Human Resources Manager or similar HR leadership role.
- Hands-on knowledge of payroll administration, preferably using Paylocity.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance standards.
- Experience handling employee relations matters with discretion and sound judgment.
- Familiarity with onboarding processes, HR administration, and employee record management.
- Working knowledge of benefits-related functions and HRIS platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
