We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to support leaders and employees in Oak Brook, Illinois through a Contract position. This role focuses on strengthening workplace practices, advising on employee relations matters, and helping managers apply people policies consistently and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Advise managers and employees on workplace concerns, policy interpretation, and appropriate employee relations practices.
- Conduct and document employee relations reviews and investigations, ensuring matters are handled fairly, promptly, and in alignment with company guidelines.
- Partner with leadership to address performance issues, recommend corrective actions, and support effective resolution plans.
- Provide guidance on HR policies and help ensure consistent application across teams and functions.
- Support routine human resources administration, including employee documentation, case tracking, and related follow-up activities.
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify workforce concerns and recommend practical HR solutions that support team effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate records related to employee relations matters while protecting confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.
- Contribute to process improvements within HR operations when changes to internal workflows or systems affect employee support activities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations within a human resources environment.
- Strong experience within Paychex.
- Strong knowledge of HR policy interpretation and practical application in day-to-day business settings.
- Experience conducting workplace investigations and preparing clear, thorough documentation.
- Background in performance management, including coaching managers through corrective action and development discussions.
- Working knowledge of human resources administration and employee record handling.
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence across levels of an organization.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
