Job Summary
The Human Resources Benefits & Compliance Analyst position plays a critical role in ensuring the organization's adherence to employment laws, regulations, and internal policies. This position reports to the Director of Compensation and Benefits and requires a strong understanding of HR benefits, compliance, leave laws, and effective communication skills.
Essential Job Functions
- Aid in the design, development, implementation & management of the HR Compliance Program, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Identify compliance risks and engage appropriate stakeholders around risk awareness and mitigation.
- Identify, design, and execute ideas to scale and improve internal compliance tools and practices, develop and deliver new strategies, and drive remediation plans to closure.
- Provide consultation, coaching and education on HR Compliance best practices to HR Business Partners and provide support to HR Leadership Team to ensure actions & outcomes are aligned across all levels of the organization.
- Assist with the standard benefit function including all health, welfare, retirement and risk benefits: Open Enrollment. Evaluation of benefit programs, including wellness initiatives. Audits. Tracking workers comp claims. Coding employees with appropriate workers comp class codes. Tracking OCONUS travel.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and risk/benefit consultants to ensure all compliance related matters are communicated to the applicable internal business partners.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of corporate governance requirements, compliance and reporting responsibilities, and related legal benchmarks from federal and state law. Including, but not limited to: I-9/E-Verify reporting. Retirement plan discrimination testing. Ensure processes, controls and documentation for government agency audits and reporting requirements; to include, but not limited to: Workers Compensation. Defense Base Act (DBA). Service Contract Act (SCA). EEO/AAP. State leave laws for family/medical and sick leave.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources, employee benefits, HR compliance, risk insurance, or compensation.
- High School Diploma/GED and 13 years of experience, an Associate's Degree and 7 years of experience, a Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience or a Master's Degree and 4 years of experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking, with the ability to think broadly and make connections across multiple programs and processes.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Strong initiative and the ability to work independently at times.
- Ability to work across multiple business functions and levels of the organization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Desired Skills
- Current HR certification preferred.
