About the role

We are seeking an HR Generalist to support Crossroads Presents, a joint venture with Live Nation Entertainment, located in Boston, MA. Venues include Citizens House of Blues, MGM Music Hall Fenway, Paradise Rock Club, Brighton Music Hall, and Orpheum Theater. Reporting to the Head of HR, you will partner with venue General Managers and department managers to cultivate a positive workplace culture and an engaged, productive workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and counsel to managers and supervisors on personnel practices, policy, and employment laws.
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of HR initiatives in relation to established goals; recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain Human Resource Information System records and compile reports from the database.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
  • Assist management with employee performance appraisals, including monthly notifications.
  • Monitor career pathing, employee relations, and counseling; provide an inside perspective to the Head of HR.
  • Assist in developing people-management skills and provide objective perspectives on employee issues.
  • Conduct new-hire orientation and company-sponsored training programs.
  • Ensure venue compliance with all Live Nation policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Maintain an open-door communication policy for staff concerns and issues.
  • Investigate and remedy harassment, abuse, or mistreatment of team members; partner with the Head of HR to complete investigations.
  • Help maintain the company’s commitment to diversity.
  • Assist the Head of HR in planning and executing the summer internship program.
  • Participate in executive committee and manager meetings; plan and facilitate manager/all-staff meetings and programs.
  • Maintain a tracking system for all state or county licensee or certification requirements; recommend recertification and training.
  • Ensure venues adhere to Alcohol Beverage Commission guidelines; recommend training for recertification.
  • Direct the development of staffing strategies and hiring processes for non-exempt staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal discrimination and employment regulations.
  • Understand and uphold Tip Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Review Workers’ Compensation reports and handle claims.
  • Develop and maintain OSHA Workplace and Safety programs; co-chair the quarterly safety committee.
  • Maintain staff and guest injury/incident reports; handle related issues in conjunction with the Vice President of Risk Management.
  • Conduct quarterly safety walkthroughs and recommend improvements to General Managers.
  • Ensure all venues follow labor and employment law guidelines set forth by state and federal governments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, legal studies, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • 2 years as an HR Generalist with a heavy emphasis on employee relations.
  • Knowledge of state employment laws and statutes.
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to communicate effectively via email, conference calls, and periodic updates.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Flexible schedule (days/nights, weekends, and holidays); preferred availability of 10 AM–6 PM.
  • This is an in-venue position.
  • Tolerance of all cultures, music, and art forms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food & Beverage, Hospitality, or Live Music Entertainment-related experience.

Pay

The expected compensation for this position is $60,000.00 USD – $75,000.00 USD, based on market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
