About the role

The role focuses on recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and professional development to attract and retain top employee talent. It also involves supporting the achievement of departmental objectives by addressing staffing needs, human resource issues, interpreting policies and procedures, and contributing to various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and optimize employee benefits programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee payroll processes and systems.
  • Manage HR information systems and maintain accurate employee records.
  • Develop and implement HR procedures.
  • Maintain HR metrics and analytics.
  • Culture, health, and safety initiatives.
  • Partner with hiring managers to meet talent needs by managing the entire hiring process.
  • Process onboarding/employment-related paperwork.
  • Schedule or conduct new employee orientations.
  • Conduct exit interviews and ensure necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
  • Process employee (faculty, staff, and adjunct) appointments in the J1 system.
  • Serve as initial point of contact for matters related to employee relations.
  • Address employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
  • Provide timely processing of inquiries and complaints while ensuring correct interpretation and application of Human Resources policy.
  • Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
  • Ensure mandatory compliance training is delivered and completed – Vector/Safe Colleges.
  • Administer annual performance management and staff advancement for staff members.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, management, or a related field, or an associate’s degree with 4-7 years of relevant experience in the HR field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel pivot tables.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • A high level of organizational ability, attention to detail, self-initiative, and dependability.
  • Preferred certifications: Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), or SHRM certification/designation.
