About the role

As an HR Generalist at UES, you’ll serve as a key HR partner to assigned business units, providing comprehensive human resources support across multiple functional areas. This role is responsible for day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, policy interpretation, onboarding and offboarding, leave administration, compliance reporting, and employee support. You’ll collaborate closely with HR and business leaders to promote employee performance and engagement, maintain consistency in HR practices, and ensure alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and organizational objectives. This role also provides employees in the Texas region with guidance on a variety of HR-related topics, including company policies, benefits, and other employment matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provides employee guidance on various HR topics, such as policies and benefits, for assigned region(s).
  • Supports performance management, compensation, employee engagement, and succession planning processes.
  • Facilitates employee onboarding and offboarding, and processes and maintains employment records.
  • Manages the Leave of Absence program, including payroll entry and employee education.
  • Assists with talent acquisition, recruitment, and LMS/training processes.
  • Responds to law enforcement, EDD, legal counsel, ICE, and verification of employment requests.
  • Supports the development and implementation of human resource policies.
  • Reviews policies, procedures, and handbooks to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Assists management with monthly metrics entry by collecting and reporting data from various sources.
  • Conducts or assists audits and investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of experience (or equal combination of education and experience).
  • General knowledge of state and federal employment laws, standards, and best practices.
  • Comfort with HR technologies, as well as standard office and collaboration software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information.
  • Ability to adapt in a changing work environment while remaining calm in volatile situations.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good relationships at all levels.
  • Exceptional listening, reading, communication (written & verbal), and problem-solving skills.
  • PHR or SPHR certification is desired but not required.

Travel Requirements

This position does not require regular travel as part of its primary responsibilities. However, occasional travel may be required, up to 10%, primarily for off-site meetings, training sessions, or company events. Travel, when necessary, will be communicated in advance and aligned with business needs.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods while using a computer, phone, and standard office equipment.
  • Involves sitting for extended periods, performing data entry, and engaging in frequent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
  • Requires regular communication with team members, clients, and stakeholders, both in person and through virtual platforms.
  • May include occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
