About the role
Implementation, active participation, and completion of Human Resource functions and administrative projects. Assess and anticipate HR-related needs and requirements for accurate record keeping, documentation, compliance, and interpretation of Human Resource policies and regulations. Support campus communications strategy and routines.
Responsibilities
- Help develop and administer departmental and company procedures and policies as well as interpret various Human Resource procedures and policies.
- Maintain employee personnel records (current and historical, physical and electronic, full-time and contract) for accuracy and compliance with company & department policies, federal & state laws, and regulations.
- Handle daily paperwork including changes in title, pay, shift, department, and replacement requisitions.
- Generate and maintain various reports, charts, and graphs for distribution daily, monthly, and annually (e.g., Affirmative Action Plan, EEO reporting, organizational charts, labor statistics, headcount, employee rosters, performance reviews, recall logs, employment verifications).
- Administer the employee evaluation program, ensuring notifications and processing are completed 100% on time.
- Process and maintain the HRIS database and payroll audit reports for accuracy.
- Manage immigration records, reports, and filings.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to create and update job descriptions.
- Partner with hiring managers to create, post, and track internal and external open positions.
- Schedule interviews and conduct pre-employment background and reference checks.
- Work with recruiting/staffing agencies for permanent and temporary positions.
- Administer and deliver New Employee Orientation.
- Process job offers, promotions, and salary compensation reviews for recommendation to HR Manager and Hiring Managers.
- Ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, including implementation of improvements or modifications to maintain 100% compliance of all HR-related SOX controls and testing.
- Administer all applicable sections within the Union Collective Bargaining Agreement, including annual mass updates for contract increases.
- Assist with questions/issues related to Human Resources, Labor Relations, and basic benefits.
- Maintain and notify employees about short-term disability benefits and records.
- Manage the employee uniform program & safety shoe program.
- Maintain & administer distribution, repair, and replacement of company cell phones and pagers.
- Special projects or assignments as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in a large to medium-sized company.
- SHRM-CP certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months) strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
