About the role

The Human Resource Generalist performs HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with Senior HR Management in supporting the Northeast region. This position carries out responsibilities in benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with employees and management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
  • Respond to employee-relations issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil-rights complaints.
  • Coach, counsel, and guide managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll changes (e.g., change in pay, title, location).
  • Monitor employee eligibility for benefits plans; review benefits with employees and process enrollments, cancellations, or changes.
  • Organize and manage annual open-enrollment communications and election process.
  • Maintain working relationships with employees at all levels and assist with monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies.
  • Facilitate and/or provide training (including orientation) to employees.
  • Respond to all EEOC and/or regulatory charges.
  • Maintain and process all unemployment notices and potential charges in a timely and efficient manner; attend unemployment hearings when necessary.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel: post open positions, source candidates, conduct initial phone/video screens, schedule in-person interviews with hiring managers, and extend written offers.
  • Administer exit interviews and analyze data to make recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Three or more years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist role.
  • Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations.
  • Ability to research and make recommendations to resolve problems or issues, using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, or state & federal law.
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, problem-solver, and team player.
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to excel in a very fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • HRCI certification (GPHR, SPHR, or PHR) preferred.

Pay

$68,480 – $85,600 per year, plus opportunity for a discretionary bonus.
