This role is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR senior management. The position carries out responsibilities in employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance. This is a 100% in-office role.
Responsibilities
- Implements human resources programs by providing services including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, training and development, records management, safety and health, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; completes personnel transactions.
- Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.
- Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
- Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database on an ad hoc or scheduled basis.
- Responds to legal requests, including subpoenas and unemployment claims.
- Provides accurate monthly data to senior management and executives regarding demographic headcount information.
- Assists with recruitment tasks as needed (reviews applications, interviews).
- Acts as a liaison between workers, managers, and executives.
- Works under time constraints to meet specific timelines with attention to detail and safeguarding confidential information.
- Attends company-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required.
- Helps plan, coordinate, and implement employee engagement activities.
- Builds team morale and promotes company culture by demonstrating positive and professional attitudes.
- Participates in third-party system design to ensure company goals are met.
- Administers human resource plans and procedures; assists in developing and implementing personnel policies; prepares and maintains the employee handbook and policies manual.
- Assists in evaluating department reports, decisions, and results in relation to established goals; recommends new approaches to improve efficiency.
- Ensures all employees complete required training on anti-discrimination laws, sexual harassment, and HIPAA as appropriate.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
- Applies knowledge of business law in relation to HR and employee rights; escalates issues to HR Manager/Director when necessary.
- Maintains consistent documentation on issues that may arise to support communications with employees or managers.
- Acts as an employee relations specialist, responding to complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights issues.
- Coaches, counsels, and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
- Assists field employees with general benefits information and questions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration.
- SHRM or PHR certification preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Extremely well-organized with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting from 5-40 lbs, unassisted (0-15% of the time).
- Sitting for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks.
- Ability to bend, crouch, or stand as necessary.
