About the role
The City of Waco seeks a knowledgeable and customer-focused Human Resources professional to serve as the City's Workers' Compensation Coordinator. This role demonstrates strong technical expertise, exercises sound judgement in decision-making, and builds productive relationships with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates all Workers' Compensation Claims with City departments and the Third-Party Administrator according to required timelines.
- Prepares and coordinates correspondence, notices, and/or letters relating to claims, as well as communicates with departments regarding employee claims status.
- Acts as a liaison between departments and the Third-Party Administrator.
- Receives and analyzes notifications of changes in policies, procedures, legislation, and regulations to the Workers' Compensation Act.
- Analyzes operational information, evaluates trends, and develops plans to meet future needs; assures effective communication of workers' compensation issues.
- Coordinates and assists City departments with the temporary duty assignment process.
- Provides training on the workers' compensation program.
- Coordinates with other HR areas related to FMLA, the ADA interactive process and benefits.
- May be required to travel to various City locations to assist with the Workers' Compensation process or other related HR programs.
- Informs supervisor of significant matters related to Workers' Compensation and seeks supervisory guidance on matters that are complex, unusual, high-risk to the employee or the City, and/or require legal counsel.
- May be required to respond after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or a related field
- 3 years of professional experience in human resources, worker's compensation management or an equivalent combination of education and related HR experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in claims management and worker's compensation
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification
Pay
Minimum starting salary: $75,000.00 annually, depending on qualifications
