Human Resources Coordinator
About the role
The Human Resources Coordinator supports the Human Resources team at the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nourishing food and hope to neighbors living with food insecurity. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Human Resources, this role involves a wide range of HR functions including recruitment support, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll support, compliance, employee records management, and employee development initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Supports recruitment efforts, including sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, and preparing candidate packages.
- Assists with onboarding new hires, including processing paperwork, setting up benefits, and providing orientation materials.
- Manages employee benefits administration, including processing changes and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Supports payroll processes, including data entry, processing timecards, and maintaining accurate records.
- Ensures compliance with HR policies and procedures, and maintains employee records in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Participates in employee development initiatives, such as training sessions and performance evaluations.
- Contributes to the advancement of the Food Bank's mission through proactive engagement and collaboration with various departments.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in business administration, human resources, nonprofit management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- One year of experience or internship in human resources, or relevant training and experience in onboarding/orientation, training, benefits administration, or recruitment support.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience using HRIS/payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now, preferred).
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Passion for food security, community impact, and the mission of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

Pay
$50,500 to $58,000 annualized.
Schedule
Full-time, onsite, based in Verona, VA, with occasional travel within the Food Bank service area.
