About the Role

This Human Resources Business Partner position is designed to positively impact Live! Casino & Hotel by streamlining HR processes, collaborating with HR and operational departments, and enhancing employee relations. HRBPs will help identify, develop, and groom team members for career advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Partner
    • Adjust HR strategies to respond to changing needs
    • Identify new business strategies
    • Identify talent issues before they affect the business
    • Develop the next generation of leaders
    • Prioritize across HR needs
    • Identify critical HR metrics
    • Review and critique Performance Reviews for content, assist with ratings, and help managers craft constructive feedback to team members
    • Interview finalists for management roles to ensure appropriate backgrounds and capabilities
    • Collaborate with the recruitment team to craft job descriptions and identify staffing requirements
  • Operations
    • Assess employee attitudes
    • Communicate organizational culture to team members
    • Communicate policies and procedures to team members
    • Ensure HR programs are aligned with company culture
    • Keep managers and team members updated on HR initiatives
    • Track trends in employee behavior
    • Attend pre-shift and departmental meetings to represent the company on philosophy and practices
    • Coordinate, enter, and manage employee file information (electronic and hard copy)
    • Review exit interviews and summarize to assist management in Retention & Recognition strategies
    • Investigate, respond to, and/or route payroll questions and disputes
  • Team Member Mediator
    • Manage conflict between team members
    • Investigate employee relations issues to coach management in appropriate disciplinary actions
    • Respond to organizational changes
    • Manage competing and complex personalities in the organization
    • Resolve political problems in the execution of department objectives
    • Review files to respond to employment verification requests
  • Emergency Responder
    • Quickly respond to complaints
    • Prepare for different situations
    • Quickly respond to line manager questions
    • Respond to team member needs
    • Respond to manager needs

Requirements

  • Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience in human resources including generalist experience inclusive of staffing/recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations, and training and development, or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resource Management or related field; PHR or SPHR preferred
  • MS or MBA preferred
  • Must have the ability to secure and maintain licensure as required by Virginia Gaming Control Board or any other applicable regulatory entity

  • Proficient with all Microsoft software products
  • Experience using Kronos Workforce preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Casino is over 300,000 square feet and requires the ability and energy to move about it with a sense of urgency
  • Sitting: 70%
  • Walking: 25%
  • Standing: 5%
  • Keyboarding: 50%
  • Use of going up and down 31 stairs multiple times per day and elevators
  • 24/7 operation requiring extended hours and the ability and willingness to meet team members’ schedules when handling matters related to scheduling, team member relations, and staffing
  • Exposed to alcohol, cigarette and cigar smoke, bright lights, and loud noises
  • Work in an environment where smoking is allowed
