About the role

As a key partner of our retail management team, the HR Business Partner's success is defined by their ability to provide effective consultation to leadership in times of need. This role requires a holistic approach tailored to each individual situation, using subject matter expertise and cultural values as a lens to inform business decision-making. The HR Business Partner provides expertise and options weighed against business needs and cultural implications.

Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations:
    • Act as a consultative resource to retail leadership on escalated employment-related issues, including educating on best practices for investigations, identifying and mitigating legal risk, and applying company policy.
    • Provide feedback on employee documentation and help navigate culturally correct and legally defensible outcomes.
    • Partner with leadership on training strategies to strengthen key competencies for navigating employment challenges.
    • Identify trends within the business and recommend training or process improvements.
    • Craft and action solutions to emerging compliance challenges.
    • Provide periodic people-based metrics to the leadership team.
  • Leave of Absence:
    • Support employee leave of absence requests by providing knowledge on eligibility and process, driving execution, and educating leadership on strategies to support the business during absences.
    • Evaluate leave practices, recommend process improvements, and implement changes with HR team support.
  • Claims Support:
    • Work closely with employees, leadership, and Third-Party Administrators to manage Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and Automotive claims.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the claims experience for claimants.
    • Support reporting requests and requirements for State/Federal compliance.
  • Self and Team Development:
    • Conduct ongoing self-assessment and development in partnership with the HR Manager.
    • Foster collaborative, team-oriented relationships.
    • Embody ethics in HR programs and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
    • Assist in evaluating departmental reports, decisions, and results relative to established goals.
    • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency.
    • Participate in Home Office training events as both a student and eventual teacher.
    • Support additional departmental responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Human Resources, business, or closely related field
  • 2 to 4 years of HR Generalist experience or equivalent
  • PHR/SHRM-CP or SPHR/SHRM-SCP preferred
  • Prior HRIS, Applicant Tracking Systems, and record management experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft suite applications
  • Meticulous organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel out of state 5 to 10 days per year

Work Environment

  • Ability to sit/stand at a workstation in an office environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to move about, sit, bend, and squat to access files and gather information.
