About the Department

The Alfred Care Group People & Culture is responsible for the overall delivery of numerous Human Resources related services to the organisation. People & Culture incorporates HR Services, Organisational Development and Safety and Wellbeing. The HR Services team includes Employee Relations, Recruitment, HR Systems and HR Business Partnering and Advisory Services. This group provides day-to-day and strategic HR advice and services on workforce planning, policy interpretation, legislative compliance in relation to industrial agreements, performance management advice, end-to-end talent attraction and recruitment services, retention initiatives, and general HR advice to employees and managers.

About the Role

As an HR Business Partner, you will support the organisation and its employees by providing high-level guidance, advice, and support to senior leaders and line managers through multi-faceted human resource services, proficient advice, and professional expertise. Working within a dedicated Alfred Care Group client portfolio, you will provide support on various HR matters with an industrial relations focus, including workforce planning, employee development, performance management, workforce diversity, conflict management, EBA, policy and guideline interpretation, and compliance.

You will be responsible for the provision of expert and accurate advice, case management, innovative solutions where appropriate, working within industrial legislation, and liaising with subject matter experts in Recruitment, Employee Relations, and Occupational Health & Safety. You will work closely with senior program leaders, departmental supervisors, and managers, including Executive Management, to deliver best-practice employee relations and human resources business outcomes. This position requires a strong, customer-focused relationship with the organisation’s leadership teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level HR guidance and advice to senior leaders and line managers.
  • Support a dedicated client portfolio on various HR matters, with a focus on industrial relations.
  • Offer expert advice on workforce planning, employee development, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with industrial legislation, policy interpretation, and employment agreements (EBA).
  • Manage cases and provide innovative solutions in collaboration with Recruitment, Employee Relations, and Occupational Health & Safety teams.
  • Work closely with senior program leaders, departmental supervisors, and Executive Management to achieve best-practice HR outcomes.
  • Maintain a strong, customer-focused relationship with leadership teams.

Requirements

  • An applicable tertiary qualification in business or human resources.
  • Previous experience in providing HR advice in a large and complex environment.
  • A proven understanding of industrial legislation and employment law principles.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven experience in performance management techniques, complaints management, workforce planning, and change management.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or Industrial Relations (desirable).
  • Experience working in HR within the health industry (desirable).
  • Familiarity with health industry awards and agreements (desirable).
