About the role
We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to support leaders and employees within a dynamic manufacturing and operations setting in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role will help strengthen workplace culture by providing strategic and hands-on HR support across employee relations, hiring, compliance, benefits, and performance initiatives. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, strong business partnership skills, and the ability to balance day-to-day HR execution with long-term workforce planning.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with operational and people leaders to improve employee engagement, strengthen retention efforts, and align staffing plans with business needs.
- Advise managers and team members on workplace concerns, conducting investigations and guiding appropriate resolution, coaching, and disciplinary actions when needed.
- Maintain adherence to applicable employment regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, including leave management, workers' compensation, and unemployment-related processes.
- Manage recruiting activities from opening a role through onboarding, supporting both salaried and hourly hiring needs.
- Oversee benefits-related administration, coordinate annual enrollment activities, and partner on payroll support tasks to ensure accurate employee records and transactions.
- Drive performance review processes, learning initiatives, and development programs that help employees and managers succeed.
- Use HR information systems to update personnel data, prepare reports, monitor compliance, and identify opportunities to improve HR workflows.
- Review workforce and HR data to identify patterns, provide insights to leadership, and support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with leadership on programs that enhance employee experience and promote continuous improvement across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in human resources, including broad generalist or business partner responsibilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in employee relations, employment law compliance, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and performance management.
- Experience working with HRIS and payroll platforms such as Workday, ADP, or comparable systems.
- Strong communication, coaching, and relationship management skills with the ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Background supporting manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or operations-based environments is required.
- HR certification with strong attention to detail is a plus.
