About the role
Cohen-Esrey is seeking an experienced, service-oriented Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our dynamic Human Resources team. This position serves as a trusted resource for team members and leaders by delivering comprehensive HR support across employee relations, benefits administration, HRIS management, compliance, onboarding, workers' compensation, retirement programs, and talent support.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted HR partner by providing guidance and support to team members and managers on employee relations, HR policies, and workplace issues.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, COBRA, ACA compliance, disability claims, and the 401(k)-retirement plan.
- Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS, processing new hires, status changes, leaves of absence, rehires, and terminations.
- Cook up onboarding activities, including I-9 compliance, E-Verify, and new hire orientation.
- Process workers' compensation claims, coordinate post-incident procedures, and ensure OSHA reporting compliance.
- Reconcile benefit invoices and partner with vendors to resolve billing and benefit administration issues.
- Deliver HR training and support management development initiatives.
- Coach and support leaders in performance management, team member development, and policy compliance.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company employment laws, policies, and procedures.

- Serve as the backup to payroll, including completing all required payroll training and processing payroll as needed and quarterly at a minimum.
Qualifications
- 4-year degree or (4+ years) commensurate experience
- Minimum of 3 years performing substantially similar essential functions, with proficient experience handling a range of employee relations situations
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR compliance practices
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with the ability to interact across all employee levels
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrates a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
