Human Resources Benefits Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end administration of employee benefits programs, including: Medical, dental, vision, Life and disability insurance, FSA, HSA, and commuter benefits, Retirement plans (401(k)), Leave and wellness programs.
- Evaluate and recommend benefits enhancements based on employee needs, market trends, and cost analysis.
- Manage annual open enrollment, including vendor coordination, system configuration, employee communications, and issue resolution.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local benefits-related laws and regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and state-specific leave requirements.
- Partner with Legal and external consultants on audits, filings, reporting, and plan documentation.
- Oversee vendor compliance and data accuracy across HRIS, benefits platforms, and payroll systems.
Vendor & Broker Management
- Serve as primary point of contact for benefits brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators.
- Lead renewals, RFPs, and contract negotiations.
- Maintain oversight of vendor performance, service levels, and issue resolution.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Payroll to ensure accurate deductions, eligibility tracking, and reconciliation.
- Support HR Operations and Recruiting with benefits education, onboarding, offboarding, and employee inquiries.
- Collaborate with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost-containment initiatives.
- Assist with M&A activity by providing benefits due diligence, plan transitions, and employee communications.
Employee Experience & Communication
- Develop clear, accessible benefits communications and resources for employees and managers.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for escalated benefits questions and complex cases.
- Drive continuous improvement in benefits processes and employee understanding.
