Human Resources Assistant - York, PA - Onsite - Bilingual/Spanish
About the role
The HR Operations team provides on-site support for 50+ distribution centers, focusing on Talent Development, Workforce Planning, Talent Selection, Engagement, Recognition, Performance Management, Organizational Development, Training, Associate Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Wellness, Risk Safety, Labor Relations, Sustainability, and Philanthropy. They play a crucial role in developing and retaining the right talent and driving UNFI's company culture.
Responsibilities
- Record, maintain, and report human resource information confidentially.
- Oversee the human resource database, ensuring accurate records and compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Ensure new hire paperwork is completed and updated, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations.
- Forward employment verification forms and process unemployment claims as needed.
- Respond to associate questions and issues promptly and courteously.
- Maintain and enhance the company’s professional image.
- Aid in onboarding and offboarding associates, including provisioning and assisting with supplies.
- Support cyclical HR processes like merit reviews, talent management, performance reviews, and annual enrollment.
- Provide resources and interpretations regarding pay, benefits, and human resource policies.
- Assist in planning and coordinating associate engagement activities.
- Stay informed about state and federal law updates and related human resource developments.
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Business preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of professional business experience required.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Federal, state/provincial, and local employment laws.
- Basic understanding of talent acquisition techniques, including recruitment, interviewing skills, and selection.
- Basic understanding of compensation and benefit policies and programs, employee relations practices.
