About the Role
This position serves as a Human Resources Assistant for the United States Attorney's Office, District of Montana.
Responsibilities
- Provide office automation support.
- Process requests for personnel actions.
- Conduct initial interviews for security packages and ensure proper documentation.
- Maintain personnel management logs, records, and spreadsheets.
- Develop and maintain position description recertification schedules.
- Assist in recruitment activities.
- Complete grade-appropriate work assignments from rough drafts, documents, written instructions, or brief oral instructions.
- Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit, and tax checks, and drug testing.
- Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
GS-06: To be eligible at the GS-06 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Providing information pertaining to a variety of human resources matters.
- Assisting with pre-employment processing and onboarding.
- Reviewing documents for completeness and obtaining additional information as required.
- Establishing and maintaining a variety of personnel files.
- Entering information into an automated system or database.
GS-07: To be eligible at the GS-07 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Using appropriate regulations and guidelines to determine the correct legal and regulatory human resources codes for personnel actions.
- Filling out various forms and documentation.
- Providing information on life and/or health insurance.
- Providing information on personal leave.
- Assisting in obtaining copies of position descriptions.
- Typing at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors (a typing test may later be required).
