Responsibilities
- Provides a welcoming and knowledgeable first point of contact for walk-in HR visitors and general telephone inquiries to the HR department
- Coordinates and executes the onboarding process to ensure compliance with various legal and administrative requirements prior to individuals starting employment
- Fingerprints new hires during onboarding visit and follows up with recruiter and supervisor about clearance prior to new hire start
- Serves as a Public Notary for new hires who are required to have a Child Protective Services background check and notarizes other requested documents for current employees and patients
- Maintains the new employee tracking log to ensure that all requirements are met and notifies the recruitment team of outstanding documents prior to Welcome Day
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all communication pertaining to applicants, students, employees, and organizational business
- Reviews the identification provided by the applicant for the I9 process, completes the I9 form, and uses the E-Verify system to complete the process
- Completes checks of regulatory agency databases such as sex offender’s registry
- Files and maintains records, reports, and logs pertaining to active and terminated employees
- Orders, receives, and organizes supplies for the HR Department and processes invoices
- Performs all other direct job-related duties as is assigned
Requirements
- Work requires (a) high school plus 3-5 years of related work experience, (b) AA degree plus 2-3 years’ related work experience, or (c) Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field plus 3 to 6 months related experience. HR experience is strongly preferred.
- Must have skills to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, compose clear communications, and demonstrate knowledge of employment laws, practices, and procedures.
- Work requires strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Work requires analytical ability sufficient to: maintain and administer HR recordkeeping for department and legal compliance; recommend improved office management practices; extract information for reporting and projects, and identify when to bring problems and concerns to the manager’s attention.
- Work requires excellent interpersonal skills sufficient to assist and effectively triage visitors to the department to the appropriate HR contacts to resolve problems or complaints and explain policies and procedures to people of varying education levels
- Work requires the ability to perform duties and pay close attention to details while working with established deadlines and very frequent interruptions
Pay
The salary range for this position is $19/hour minimum to $26.82 maximum.
