Human Resources Assistant

Responsibilities
- Knowledge of HR programs, policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal employment laws
- Show initiative and vision for continuous improvement
- Promote Scheels culture and benefits through regular and positive associate interactions
- Create employment postings for recruiting applicants as well as maintaining up-to-date job postings
- Aid in onboarding new associates including: conducting pre-screening interviews, scheduling interviews for the hiring team, tracking, training, and developing new associates
- Aid in preparing benefits paperwork for all newly eligible associates
- Aid in maintaining associate files and paperwork
- Maintain current knowledge of state and federal employment laws and best practices
- Be organized, multi-tasks, and maintain all aspects of human resources
- Be detail-oriented and maintain a high level of accuracy
- Have strong computer and problem-solving skills
- Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with all levels of the organization
- Perform basic math
- Work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Work assigned schedule which is typically Monday through Friday day-time hours, but may include some evening or weekend hours as needed

Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field preferred; and/or 1-2 years of Scheels and/or human resources experience.
- PHR or SPHR certification preferred or willing to obtain certification.

Pay
This is an hourly, full-time position typically scheduled at 40 hours per week. Starting compensation expected to be between $18 and $20 per hour depending on experience.
Schedule
Typically Monday through Friday day-time hours, but may include some evening or weekend hours as needed.
