About the role
The HR Assistant provides professional customer service and ensures that employee and visitor needs are met. Responsibilities include answering phones, taking accurate messages, maintaining a professional front office, assisting with projects, processing forms, and maintaining employee records.
Responsibilities
- Answers phones, directs calls, and takes detailed messages
- Maintains a neat, clean, and organized lobby/hallway
- Assists with projects at the front desk, such as file maintenance and information packet creation
- Takes messages and relays information to HR staff
- Processes verifications of employment and income, creates ID badges, and assists with candidate applications
- Enters HRIS employee changes, logs garnishment and subpoena documents, and attends staff meetings
- Assists with onboarding and maintains a safe work environment
- Participates in performance improvement teams and actively promotes good public relations
- Handles difficult situations discreetly and professionally
Requirements
- Able to meet basic health requirements for San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, including required tests and TB skin test or chest x-ray
- Emotionally mature to handle the duties of the position
- Understands quality issues and performance improvement processes
- Participates in performance improvement teams and processes as directed
- Extends special attention and sensitivity to all patients, visitors, physicians, and fellow associates
- Maintains cooperation with other departments and allied professionals
- Respects and cooperates in all staff relationships and actively participates in team decisions
- Maintains confidentiality regarding employee information
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Basic computer skills and good communication, organizational, and prioritization skills
- One year of human resources experience preferred
