About the role

The Florida Department of Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resource Specialist to join their Recruitment team within the Office of Human Resource Management. This professional position plays a key role in supporting hiring managers and ensuring a positive experience for applicants throughout the recruitment and selection process.

Responsibilities

  • Aiding hiring managers with recruitment activities, including advertisements, qualifying questions, applicant reviews, and offer letters.
  • Providing guidance on Veterans’ Preference and ensuring documentation is complete and compliant.
  • Processing background screenings, fingerprinting, and drug test results; updating personnel systems accordingly.
  • Reviewing recruitment packages for completeness and compliance with department standards.
  • Delivering training related to recruitment procedures and providing ongoing support to supervisors.
  • Preparing reports, gathering data, and assisting with special projects that require HR expertise.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee information.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working with the People First system in an HR capacity.

Qualifications

Knowledge of Microsoft applications software
Knowledge of State of Florida Personnel Rules and applicable Florida Statutes
Knowledge of the People First system
Ability to interpret, apply and communicate applicable human resource management statutes, rules, policies, and procedures
Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis
Knowledge of one or more personnel program functions such as classification and pay, insurance and benefits, recruitment and selection, labor relations, employee/employer relations or training
Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally
Ability to utilize a computer
Ability to coordinate work assignments, as well as projects and activities, with strong attention to detail
Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to human resource management program functions
Ability to prepare reports relating to human resource management program functions
