Human Resources Specialist
About the role
The position will join the HR team of US Attorney's Office, Northern District of Alabama, providing a full range of HR lifecycle support to an office of over 100 local staff. HR functions include staffing, benefits, compensation, HR operations, and more.
Responsibilities
Performing position analysis to determine organizational requirements
Determining recruitment strategies and posting job announcements
Reviewing applications and applying qualification standards
Providing advice and assistance on performance management
Providing assistance in the administration of benefits programs
Administering guidance on pay and leave
Identifying training and development needs
Conducting evaluations of human resource program operation
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship or Nationality
Pre-employment adjudication including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing
Background investigation
Selective Service registration if applicable
Time-in-Grade requirement within 30 days of announcement closing date
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related
Specialized experience: Providing human resources support in areas such as: posting job vacancies/announcements; performing recruitment, hiring, pre-employment paperwork, security and onboarding duties; determining qualifications and eligibility for employment for routine recruitment actions; entering data in HR Information systems accurately and on-time; troubleshooting employee issues with self-service features in HRIS (e.g. updating bank information, certifying timesheets, etc.).
