Human Resource Analyst
About the role
SUSLA is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to support the HR Director in managing all HR functions and activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for processes such as onboarding, training, recruitment, and employee relations.
Responsibilities
- Processes all internal paperwork required to fill open positions, including position vacancy authorizations and announcements.
- Reviews job descriptions for accuracy of organizational information and contacts employees to correct or resolve minor conflicts.
- Generates job postings and posts to various sites such as NeoGov, university website, and others like Indeed, HigherEd, and LinkedIn.
- Maintains and monitors all applications received, ranks candidates based on qualifications, and forwards the most qualified applicants to the hiring department.
- Generates offer letters, meets with candidates to discuss offers, and ensures new employees complete necessary forms.
- Provides induction documents and follows up with employees to ensure timely completion of forms.
- Submits paperwork for and manages employee background checks, verifies right to work using EVERIFY, enters new hires into LAGOV and Banner databases, and issues personnel numbers.
- Answers calls and emails regarding open positions and assists in the maintenance of the Human Resources website.
- Aids in the maintenance of payroll and ensures accuracy and timely processing.
- Completes job verifications for both active and separated employees and provides grievance forms and procedural instructions.
- Attends job fairs and recruitment activities to engage and recruit new employees.
- Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for improving organizational culture, attracting and hiring qualified candidates, motivating and retaining employees, addressing staffing issues, and maintaining legal compliance.
- Maintains a database of active employees and new hires.
- Maintains employee records required by Louisiana State Civil Service for classified employees, including position descriptions, evaluations, and certifications of compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in Human Resources; advanced degree may substitute for experience.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethics in communications, records, and data collection/analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) or more years of previous professional level HR experience.
- Human Resources experience in a Higher Education environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Compensation
$40,000 - $43,888
