What You’ll Do

  • Coordinates recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for assigned institutions
  • Creates Ohio Hiring Management System (OHMS) requisitions from approved to fill notifications
  • Creates internal and/or external posting announcements
  • Oversees and coordinates OHMS electronic case merit selection files, including screening for minimum qualifications, contractual selections, and supplemental questions
  • Schedules referrals to institution Personnel Directors for remaining selection processes
  • Conducts background investigations on recommended applicants, including education verification, certification/licensure verification, and reviewing applicable spreadsheets
  • Verifies criminal background investigation approvals and makes job offers
  • Schedules pre-employment drug screenings and verifies drug test results
  • Schedules applicant pre-service training
  • Uses Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS) to create Person-of-Interest (POI) records, reviews drug screening results, and creates selection ePars as directed by Institution Personnel Directors
  • Distributes appropriate consent letters to applicants
  • Assists with recruitment and Correction Officer hiring events
  • Provides instruction and advice to human resource staff and managerial staff involved in recruitment and selection processes
  • Provides guidance and information regarding hiring policies and procedures, bargaining unit agreements, Ohio Civil Service Laws/Rules
  • Closes case merit files by communicating with applicants and ensuring all applicable documents are collected and uploaded to the requisition and/or job applicant submission
  • Aids in gathering documentation for audits, grievances, lawsuits, and requests for public information
  • Prepares and distributes reports and statistics
  • Participates in committees and teams as directed
  • Attends meetings, training, and conferences
  • Provides verbal and written responses to questions and concerns
  • Works on special projects and/or committees assigned

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in human resources, or completion of an undergraduate core program in human resources, business, or public administration
  • 1 year of experience as a Human Capital Management Associate, 64611
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above
