Vedder's Chicago office is seeking an HRIS Manager to support system development, integration, vendor interfaces, and maintenance of the Firm’s HRIS system (UKG). This role reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and collaborates across departments to enhance HR operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day administration of HR systems, including UKG, ViDesktop, and PolicyTech; handle testing, configuration updates, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Firm and HR team by researching and resolving end-user issues, performing scheduled maintenance, and recommending process improvements.
  • Write, maintain, and deliver accurate reports and queries using appropriate reporting tools.
  • Develop data integrity protocols between HR, Accounting, Finance, and other internal departments and systems.
  • Design communication strategies for system integrations and HRIS updates.
  • Maintain HR and payroll data integrity through queries, data analysis, and audits.
  • Identify functional, technical, and security gaps; develop documentation to improve and automate processes.
  • Serve as a key liaison with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical point-of-contact for assigned functional areas, ensuring data integrity, testing system changes, and analyzing data flows for process improvements.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures for HRIS workflows and processes.
  • Support and manage technical aspects of UKG upgrades, patches, testing enhancements, validation, and performance management.
  • Manage technical implementation and design of UKG modules, including employee self-service for compensation, attendance, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with the HR team on annual focal point reviews for non-exempt and exempt employees, ensuring data integrity across UKG, ViDesktop, Intapp, and compensation reports.
  • Partner with the Benefits Team to manage open enrollment and data interfaces with benefits vendors.
  • Work with the Training Team to create and update quick reference and user guides for employees.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Payroll, and Firm Administrative Department Managers to create and maintain customized reports with high accuracy.
  • Gather requirements, map processes, and write functional specifications for new reports and system updates.
  • Define system needs with end users and participate in process/system improvement efforts.
  • Partner with HR Managers on annual compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate with the HR Manager and HR Specialist on annual salary survey reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of system enhancements and make strategic recommendations for efficiency improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of HRIS administration experience in a professional services environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of HRIS-based project management and systems implementation experience.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently under pressure to meet strict deadlines.

Skills

  • Strong proficiency and knowledge of Ultimate Software (UKG).
  • Strong working knowledge of implementing HRIS systems (UKG) into existing infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data, including eligibility, enrollment rules, and benefit procedures.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS database design, structure, functions, and database tools.
  • Strong background in data integrity analytics, audits, and reporting.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, time management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Extensive working knowledge of HRIS systems, including UKG (preferred), ViDesktop, and PolicyTech.

Pay

$105,000 – $150,000 per year.
