About the role

The Human Resources Specialist serves as the initial point of information for staff, ensuring efficient and effective service to faculty, staff, and students in all HR-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central hub for HR operations, supporting the Director of HR in recruitment, onboarding, and employee inquiries.
  • Maintain information on the NTCC Portal and keep the online employee directory updated.
  • Process bi-weekly Work4College payroll and assist with Work4College orientation.
  • Maintain required HR files, including personnel, payroll, official transcripts, DPS, and I-9 files.
  • Perform onboarding and employee support tasks, including background checks and assisting new hires with required documentation.
  • Complete Verification of Employment (VOE) and Service Record requests.
  • Update and issue the quarterly Human Resources Department Newsletter.
  • Maintain Work4College employee data in human resources information systems.
  • Assist with employee-related events, such as the annual holiday lunch and service award presentations.
  • Coordinate the applicant tracking system, including posting job openings, tracking applications, scheduling interviews, and candidate communications.
  • Audit payroll reports for accuracy before disbursement.
  • Maintain official transcripts and ensure confidentiality of all payroll, benefits, personnel, and employment information.
  • Generate and track purchase orders for the HR Department and order supplies as needed.
  • Provide support for HR projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex, fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects.
  • Detail-oriented and proficient in computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strategic, creative, and highly analytical.
