About the role
Join a mission-driven team where you support the people who change the lives of children and families across Long Island. Hope For Youth has been a trusted leader in child welfare for over 55 years. We're looking for an experienced, energetic HR Recruiter Specialist to help drive our people strategy through what we call the Six Rs: recruitment, retention, rejuvenation-plus research, react, and respect.
Responsibilities
- Play a critical role in attracting, engaging, and retaining talent that fuels our mission.
- Use systems and data to track, report, and improve results.
- Represent HFY at job fairs, community events, and other recruitment initiatives.
- Drive our people strategy through the Six Rs.
Requirements
- HR or recruiting experience.
- Solid understanding of employment laws, especially in hiring and recruiting.
- Fast-paced environments and move with urgency, flexibility, and a "figure it out" mindset.
- Organized, process-driven, and known for strong follow-through.
- Reliable daily access to a personal vehicle for recruitment activities and travel.
- Dependable and professional onsite presence; consistently meets schedule and job expectations.
- Willing and able to represent HFY at job fairs, community events, and other recruitment initiatives.
- Physical requirements: read/write reports and log entries, walking/standing for prolonged periods, bending/stooping, kneeling/squatting, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, repetitive wrist/finger movements, driving, and ongoing access to reliable vehicle and driving own vehicle for work.
Qualifications
- BA degree in Human Resources a plus or 1-2 years HR recruiting experience required.
- Additional qualifications include experience in a nonprofit or social services environment, and a team-first mindset.
