This role serves as the primary point of contact for employee benefits and leave inquiries, partners closely with the Talent Acquisition & HR Advisor and HR & Payroll Administrator, and ensures consistent, high-quality HR service delivery across the firm.
Responsibilities
- Benefits Administration:
- Manages all aspects of BRR’s benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans.
- Leads open enrollment planning and execution including employee communications, system updates, and vendor coordination.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries; resolves issues with carriers and vendors in a timely manner.
- Supports the HR Director with benefit strategy; HR Director owns strategy, contract negotiations, and vendor relationships.
- Maintains accurate benefits enrollment records and ensures timely processing of changes, qualifying life events, and terminations.
- Monitors benefits utilization and prepares summary reports for HR Director review.
- Leave Administration:
- Administers all leave programs including FMLA, ADA accommodations, state-specific leave laws, short-term disability, and personal leave.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for leave requests; guides employees and managers through the leave process.
- Maintains leave tracking records and ensures compliance with applicable federal and state leave requirements across all BRR locations.
- Coordinates with the HR & Payroll Administrator to ensure accurate leave coding and pay processing.
- Monitors leave trends and flags patterns or concerns to the HR Director.
- HR Administrative Operations:
- Maintains and updates HR administrative processes, forms, and documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy across the firm.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline and improve HR processes and workflows; makes recommendations to the HR Director.
- Serves as backup for payroll processing in the absence of the HR & Payroll Administrator; maintains working knowledge of payroll systems and procedures.
- Manages employment verification requests, unemployment claims administration, and related documentation.
- Supports onboarding coordination in partnership with the Talent Acquisition & HR Advisor, including new hire paperwork and benefits orientation.
- Maintains accurate employee records in HRIS; ensures data integrity for benefits, leave, and employment status.
- Assists with HR reporting and data requests as directed by the HR Director.
- Administrative Compliance Execution:
- Maintains BRR’s employee handbook and HR policy documentation; coordinates updates and distribution under HR Director direction.
- Manages required federal and state labor law posting obligations across all BRR office locations.
- Conducts periodic I-9 audits and maintains I-9 documentation in compliance with federal requirements.
- Tracks and manages policy acknowledgment processes including annual employee signoffs.
- Supports HR Compliance filings and reporting (EEO-1, benefits filings, etc.) as directed by the HR Director.
- Monitors regulatory updates affecting benefits and leave administration; flags changes to the HR Director for review and decision.
- General:
- Supports the Talent Acquisition & HR Advisor with recruiting-related tasks as needed, including scheduling, candidate coordination, onboarding logistics, and other activities that support an effective hiring process.
- Provides general HR administrative support to the broader HR Team as capacity allows.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of HR experience with demonstrated focus on benefits administration and HR operations.
- Experience with leave administration (FMLA, ADA, state leave laws) strongly preferred.
- Multi-state HR experience a plus.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefit Specialist) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, carrier administration, and open enrollment processes.
- Working knowledge of federal and state leave laws (FMLA, ADA, state-specific programs).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee information with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn BRR’s benefits administration and payroll platforms.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
