HR Manager
The Human Resources Manager will report to the Mill General Manager and be responsible for the full life cycle of employee relations including talent acquisition, HRIS, performance management, and maintaining an effective people management system that supports a diverse and inclusive environment.
About the role
This role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management with an emphasis in Human Resources, or equivalent experience and education. A SHRM-S/CP or S/PHR designation and a minimum of five years of HR experience, primarily in Generalist and Manager roles in an industrial environment, are preferred. Extensive experience using Microsoft Office is also required.
Responsibilities
- Foster and encourage a culture where continuous improvement in safety is a priority for all employees.
- Apply employment laws to protect the interests of all stakeholders.
- Assess and resolve employee issues with good judgment.
- Communicate effectively with employees through writing and training.
- Develop positive and supportive relationships with all employees.
- Ascertain and identify potential problems and recommend solutions; provide coaching and consulting as needed.
- Manage multiple priorities and projects; ensure tasks are completed with follow-through skills.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- Must possess excellent writing skills for employee communication and training.
- High degree of integrity and the ability to adapt to various situations.
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb stairs, bend, lift up to 20 pounds, and climb ladders.
- Perform safety observations and recognize and support the team culture.
- Complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen test, and physical.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or Management with an emphasis in Human Resources, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Minimum of five years of HR experience, primarily in Generalist and Manager roles in an industrial environment.
- SHRM-S/CP or S/PHR designation.
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures, including performing safety observations.
- Recognition and support of the team culture, communicating effectively with all team members.
