About the role
We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to establish, develop, and lead the HR function for our client's Albuquerque operations. This is a unique opportunity to build the HR function from the ground up, rather than inheriting a fully developed department with established systems and processes. The ideal candidate is energized by the chance to assess current practices, identify gaps, and implement best-in-class HR systems and processes that will support the organization for years to come.
You will serve as the company's primary HR resource, partnering closely with executive leadership while remaining hands-on with day-to-day HR responsibilities. This high-visibility position offers direct access to the CEO, CFO, and leadership team, allowing you to make an immediate impact in a small-company environment where your recommendations can directly influence the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assess current HR practices and identify immediate and long-term priorities
- Build and formalize HR policies, procedures, workflows, and documentation
- Evaluate HRIS and HR technology options and lead system selection and implementation
- Establish effective onboarding and offboarding processes
- Maintain compliant employee files and HR documentation
- Oversee I-9 compliance and employment eligibility documentation
- Support benefits administration and employee questions
- Partner with leadership on employee relations matters
- Develop and improve performance management processes
- Support recruiting, hiring, and workforce planning initiatives
- Review and update employee policies and handbook materials
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements
- Identify HR-related risk and recommend practical solutions
- Develop reporting and processes that provide leadership with better visibility into the workforce
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, CFO, and leadership team
- Communicate HR initiatives clearly and effectively across the organization
- Balance strategic HR projects with hands-on day-to-day employee needs
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience preferred
- Previous HR Manager, Senior HR Generalist, HRBP, People Operations, or similar experience
- Demonstrated experience building or significantly improving HR processes
- Experience implementing an HRIS or other HR technology strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of HR compliance and employment practices
- Experience with I-9 compliance, onboarding, employee documentation, benefits, and employee relations
- Ability to operate independently without an established HR department or playbook
- Strong project management and implementation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence working directly with senior and executive leadership
- Ability to prioritize multiple HR initiatives and determine what needs to be addressed first
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is a plus

Pay
$80,000 - $95,000 per year
