Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership, coaching, and HR guidance to the Austin Human Resources team and operational leadership.
- Serve as a primary HR resource for employee relations, labor relations, policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreement (CBA) interpretation.
- Manage labor relations activities, including grievance tracking, hearings, information requests, and contract-related timelines to ensure compliance with bargaining agreements.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, complaints, and workplace issues while ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
- Conduct employee relations investigations, including gathering information, interviewing involved parties, documenting findings, and partnering with leadership on appropriate next steps.
- Support employment processes including hiring, promotions, transfers, leaves, terminations, and related HR documentation while ensuring compliance with EEO and employment regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of employment laws, labor regulations, HR best practices, and organizational policies.
- Analyze labor-related data, including compensation, wages, benefits, working conditions, and operational impacts, to support negotiations and workforce decisions.
- Conduct research, surveys, and analysis related to compensation, policies, and labor negotiations and provide recommendations to senior HR leadership.
- Assist with preparation of documentation and materials for collective bargaining discussions, labor meetings, and negotiations with employee organizations.
- Cook up communication and meetings between union representatives, employees, and company leadership.
- Maintain organized records of collective bargaining agreements, arbitration decisions, grievances, and other labor relations documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- 4+ years of progressive Human Resources, Employee Relations, or Labor Relations experience and minimum of 2 years supporting a unionized workforce required.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies, employment practices, collective bargaining, and federal/state/local employment and labor laws.
