HR GENERALIST - NON PROFIT

About the role
Performs varied HR responsibilities in support of the Human Resources Department, including onboarding and offboarding processes, leave management, worker’s compensation administration, and oversight of the internship program. Handles HRIS administration tasks using the ADP WorkforceNow platform.
Responsibilities
- Ensures orientation checklists and introductory reviews for new hires are completed on time by monitoring the performance dashboard in ADP WorkforceNow and following up with managers as needed.
- Manages the pre-employment onboarding process, including medical and fingerprinting requirements, to ensure all applicants are cleared for employment (criminal background checks, drug and Mantoux screening, etc.).
- Administers all employee leaves of absence, including FMLA/NJFLA, personal, and/or worker’s compensation leaves; maintains accurate records and coordinates with employees and occupational health for a smooth return-to-work process.
- Coordinates timecard entries for any benefit time taken during leave with managers and/or the payroll department.
- Refers employees to Corporate Care Occupational Health for work-related injuries and files workers' compensation claims with the insurance carrier.
- Maintains the OSHA Form 300 log of workplace accidents and injuries to complete annual BLS reporting requirements.
- Reviews and processes employee status changes bi-weekly, forwards to finance for approval as needed, and enters changes into ADP; notifies appropriate parties via email.
- Generates separation letters for terminated employees, attaching required notices for claiming unemployment benefits.
- Coordinates the exit interview process by corresponding with employees during their notice period and obtaining exit interview questionnaires prior to termination; provides a summary of findings to the HR Director quarterly.
- Ensures transferred and/or promoted employees meet all mandatory regulatory requirements (e.g., fingerprinting, medical, CARI) for their new positions.
- Oversees the PBHG Internship Program, referring applicants to supervisory personnel and coordinating intern paperwork and orientation start dates.
- Assists with financial, regulatory, and other HR audits by reviewing personnel files, providing documentation, and running reports in ADP WorkforceNow as needed.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal employment laws, employee records management, retention requirements, and the security of all employee documents.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and ADP WorkforceNow or a similar HRIS platform.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field.
- Licensure: PHR or SHRM-CP certification is desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of one to two years in Human Resources; experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.

Pay
Hourly rate range: $23.50 - $25.50.
Schedule
Full-time, in-person position located at Office 1500 Route 88, Brick, New Jersey.
