About the Role

Mennonite Village is seeking an experienced HR Generalist – Leave of Absence, Benefits & Workers' Compensation who brings compassion, professionalism, and strong HR expertise to every interaction. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders, helping administer leave programs, employee benefits, and workers' compensation claims while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Your work will directly support our mission by providing exceptional service to team members who care for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Support Leave of Absence & Employee Accommodations
    • Serve as the primary resource for employees and managers regarding leave programs, including FMLA, OFLA, Paid Leave Oregon, military leave, and personal leaves of absence
    • Coordinate leave requests, certifications, approvals, and return-to-work processes
    • Partner with employees, healthcare providers, managers, and third-party administrators throughout the leave process
    • Support ADA accommodation requests and participate in the interactive process
    • Maintain accurate and confidential leave records while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies
    • Educate employees and leaders on leave programs and available resources
  • Administer Employee Benefits Programs
    • Coordinate employee enrollment, changes, and terminations for health, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, and other benefit programs
    • Serve as a resource for employee questions regarding benefits eligibility, coverage, and claims
    • Support annual open enrollment planning, communications, and employee education
    • Collaborate with benefit providers and brokers to resolve issues and ensure a positive employee experience
    • Maintain accurate benefits data within HR systems and records
    • Assist with benefits reporting, audits, and compliance activities
  • Manage Workers' Compensation & Return-to-Work Programs
    • Coordinate workers' compensation claims from injury reporting through claim resolution
    • Work closely with employees, supervisors, medical providers, and claims administrators to ensure timely and effective claim management
    • Monitor claim activity and maintain required documentation and records
    • Facilitate return-to-work and modified-duty assignments when appropriate
    • Support workplace injury investigations and identify opportunities to reduce future incidents
    • Ensure compliance with workers' compensation reporting requirements and regulatory obligations
  • Provide General HR Support
    • Respond to employee and manager questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs
    • Maintain confidential employee records and documentation
    • Prepare reports and track metrics related to leave administration, benefits, and workers' compensation
    • Support HR initiatives, policy updates, compliance efforts, and continuous process improvement activities
    • Assist with additional Human Resources responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Minimum of three years of Human Resources experience with direct responsibility for leave administration, benefits, and/or workers' compensation
  • Knowledge of FMLA, OFLA, Paid Leave Oregon, ADA, workers' compensation, and related employment laws
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with professionalism and discretion

Schedule

This role is 100% in-office.

  • Pay range, depending on experience: $32.60 to $37.46 per hour
