About the role

We're hiring an HR Generalist to be the strategic HR partner for our East Coast region. This is a senior, hands-on role where you'll advise regional and market leaders on people decisions, own employee relations and compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and rebuild the processes and systems that HR runs on. You'll operate with real autonomy and be measured on judgment, not ticket volume. Our teams are distributed across many locations, so the work rewards someone who can move between a difficult manager conversation, a multi-state compliance question, and an ADP audit in the same afternoon—and who leaves every process cleaner than they found it.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic partnership
    • Act as the dedicated HR partner to East Coast regional and market leadership, joining their operating rhythm rather than reacting to requests
    • Coach managers to handle people situations well the first time, raising the floor on HR capability across the region
    • Provide cross-coverage and partnership to our West Coast markets (CA, UT, OR, WA) as needed, and serve as a second set of eyes on multi-state questions
  • Employee relations and compliance
    • Own employee relations end to end: intake, investigation, documentation, findings, and recommended action, including sensitive and escalated matters
    • Guide performance improvement plans, corrective action, and separations with clean documentation and consistent standards across markets
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment law across East Coast jurisdictions, with working knowledge of California and other West Coast requirements
    • Administer leaves of absence, accommodations, and the interactive process, including FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation coordination, and state leave programs
    • Keep handbooks, policies, postings, and job classifications current as we enter new states and markets
    • Reduce risk proactively by spotting patterns across cases and closing the gaps that create them
  • Systems, process, and automation
    • Continuously automate recurring ADP Workforce Now reporting and run regular audits of system data, org structure, classifications, and employee records
    • Own reporting and processing in Employee Navigator, our benefits platform, and keep it reconciled with ADP and our carriers
    • Take cumbersome manual processes—spreadsheet trackers, email-driven approvals, duplicate data entry—and replace them with something durable
  • Core HR operations
    • Own onboarding end to end, from accepted offer through first day: offer letters, background checks, I-9 and E-Verify, system and new hire paperwork, orientation and first-week follow-through
    • Maintain accurate employee records in ADP and partner with the payroll administrator on status changes, pay changes, and pay-cycle accuracy
    • Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and day-to-day employee questions
    • Handle onboarding, offboarding, and the transactional volume that comes with a multi-location workforce, without losing accuracy

Requirements

  • 6+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally including time in a Generalist, HR Business Partner role or above
  • Hands-on ADP Workforce Now experience is required—HRIS administration, custom reporting, and data auditing. Next Gen experience is a plus
  • Extensive employee relations experience, including independently running investigations and advising on high-stakes separations
  • Deep multi-state employment law and compliance knowledge, with the judgment to know when to escalate to counsel
  • Demonstrated record of streamlining or automating HR processes
  • Strong Excel and data skills: build and run reports, interpret workforce metrics, and present findings clearly to senior leadership
  • Credibility with senior leaders and the confidence to push back when the people decision and the business decision diverge
  • Self-directed in a remote environment, and available during Eastern Time business hours
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in short-term rental, vacation rental, hospitality, or property management—or another high-volume, hourly/piece-rate, multi-location workforce
  • Employee Navigator or comparable benefits administration platform experience
  • Exposure to California and West Coast employment regulations
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Employer-sponsored and voluntary supplemental benefits
  • 401(k) with immediate 100% match on the first 4% contributed
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (health and dependent care)
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Employee Stay Avari discounts
  • Remote work environment

Pay

Salary range: $95,000 – $105,000 annually
