HR Generalist
About the role
Valto is the world’s leading provider of FRP composite panels, delivering innovative products and services since 1952. We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our team at our Headquarters in Channahon, IL. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role supports multiple functional groups including Sales, Marketing, IT, Finance, and R&D.
Responsibilities
- Partner with hiring managers to evaluate current and future talent needs and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, focusing on interviewing and selection to maintain a consistent, high-quality talent pipeline.
- Support managers in the effective use of selection criteria and onboarding tools.
- Support and administer organizational programs related to employee development, retention, performance management, onboarding, career development, and succession planning to enable current business objectives and future growth.
- Own company-wide HR metrics, reporting, and process improvement initiatives by preparing HR reports and dashboards, identifying opportunities for improvement, and participating in cross-functional HR projects.
- Partner with Payroll and Benefits to manage all company-wide leaves of absence, ensuring accurate administration, compliance, and timely communication with HR team, managers, and associates throughout the leave lifecycle.
- Lead company-wide volunteerism efforts in partnership with the broader HR team.
- Serve as a backup to the Joliet HR Manager as needed.
- Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, performance management, and disciplinary actions, escalating complex or high-risk issues to the Vice President of Human Resources as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within HRIS systems, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (required).
- 3-5 years of experience in human resources, preferably in a generalist role.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., ADP highly preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS).
- Manufacturing experience highly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution expertise.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and multitasking capabilities.
