About the role
The SouthWest Metro Intermediate District #288 is seeking a Human Resources Generalist at the Dean Lakes Education Center in Shakopee, MN. This position supports the Human Resources Department in various areas including leaves of absence, work compensation, benefits administration, and employee maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Input and manage employee data in HRIS and other personnel information systems.
- Scan and maintain employee documents in the records system.
- Maintain personnel files for current and former employees, ensuring compliance with employment laws and data privacy regulations.
- Manage and maintain I-9 records in compliance with federal regulations.
- Avoid preparing and submitting federal, state, and agency reports, including the STAR and equity reports.
- Compile and enter data for personnel action agenda items, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure proper documentation and input of employee status changes into HRIS, maintaining historic accountability for payroll accuracy.
- Prepare reports and draft correspondence related to human resources.
- Notify relevant departments of employee hires, departures, or status changes.
- Maintain licensure lists and track the completion of special permission forms.
- Process employee position changes and maintain accurate records by updating HRIS and other applicable systems.
- Act as a back-up for HR colleagues, including assisting with payroll and onboarding functions.
- Guide employees through the leave of absence process, ensuring all necessary forms are completed.
- Track and manage leave requests while maintaining accurate records.
- Support workers' compensation claims and maintain related documentation and reports.
- Manage and process Minnesota Paid Leave requests, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies, and timelines.
- Cook up ADA accommodation requests, including tracking, documentation, and communication throughout the interactive process.
- Aid employees and retirees with benefits enrollment, including medical, dental, life insurance, and long-term disability.
- Work closely with payroll to ensure timely and accurate benefit deductions.
- Verify health and dental billing statements against district insurance enrollment data to maintain accuracy.
- Support Open Enrollment processes.
- Maintain benefits databases and related records.
- Perform additional HR-related tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Human Resources Management; Previous experience in human resources preferred.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing human resources.
- Knowledge of labor agreements and their impact on payroll and human resources.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of computerized human resources and payroll systems.
- Ability to operate general office equipment and tools.
- Ability to meet strict time deadlines and to prioritize work accordingly.
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to perform work that requires close attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team.

Pay & Benefits
