HR Generalist

Responsibilities

  • Manages moderately complex human resources matters, references employee handbook, interprets company policy and procedures and replies to inquiries.
  • Engages centers of expertise as appropriate. Act as a point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Supports the onboarding process, including HR portions of employee orientation and facilitating New Manager Training.
  • Gather and prepare employee data for employee status changes includes but not limited to increases, promotions, and employment changes.
  • Collaborate with HR Compliance to ensure timely processing of employee changes.
  • Maintain human resources files to required standards, including personnel files, medical files, etc.
  • Work with the Senior HR Manager on employee changes leading to terminations, ensuring compliance with policies and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and promote company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee completion of new hire orientation, ethics certifications, and performance appraisals.
  • Conduct exit interviews for employees below management level, report trends and insights to the Senior HR Manager, and recommend action where necessary.
  • Provide employee relations support, guide managers through HR issues, and escalate more complex cases to the Senior HR Manager.
  • Collaborate with managers to determine and document appropriate disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct and document workplace investigations, inform the Sr. HR Manager on findings.
  • Review performance evaluations and provide coaching to managers; assist in tracking the timely completion of evaluations.
  • Partner with the Corporate Recruiter to manage job postings and update the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Aid in the development of job descriptions.
  • Provide guidance to employees regarding benefits, administration of FMLA, disability, and other leave programs in partnership with our Benefits Team as needed.
  • Support engagement activities, including company-wide events, open enrollment, and employee activities.
  • Coordinates Above & Beyond Recognition program for site.
  • Lead or assist with special projects as assigned by HR leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or directly related human resources generalist experience.
  • 5+ years HR Experience
  • Preferred DOT and Distribution Center experience
  • HR Certifications preferred (PHR, SHRM-SCP)
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and HRIS system(s)
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated to execute with minimal direction
