About the role
The HR Generalist assists the Director of Human Resources in managing the workforce of SMDH, handling bi-weekly payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the recruitment and interview process, submit online applicant investigations, and assist with new employee background checks.
- Enroll new employees in benefits and maintain I-9 records.
- Create new employee orientation and onboarding materials and manage personnel files.
- Provide customer service by answering employee requests and questions, assisting with performance reviews, and maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.
- Explain, interpret, and answer questions about various benefits plans, investigate and analyze claims, and correspond with third-party administrators and employees.
- Process bi-weekly and quarterly payroll, reconcile accounts, and conduct audits of HR programs.
- Maintain personnel files, update HRIS databases, and assist with various research projects and special projects.
- Schedule meetings and prepare correspondence as needed.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum one to three years of HR experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, communicate effectively (verbal and written), and make independent decisions.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Adaptable to change and open to incorporating new methods.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of employment laws and ability to provide guidance and build rapport with department team members and external departments.
- Team-oriented and able to work independently.
- Read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to handle infectious diseases, blood, and other body fluids, and work in a general office environment.
