About the Role

This is a full-time, salaried role reporting to the Director of Human Resources, based in the San Antonio, Texas office. The Human Resources Generalist will assist in running HR operations across both RPH locations and is trusted to work independently. You will execute day-to-day HR operations, including recruiting coordination, onboarding and offboarding, benefits and leave administration, payroll support, HRIS administration, and compliance recordkeeping. You will partner directly with the Director of Human Resources on compliance readiness and process improvement, ensuring operational reality aligns with policy.

Discretion is a core function of this role, as you will handle sensitive employee information daily. This is a deliberate step-up role with exposure to every part of HR, offering direct access to the Director of Human Resources as a coach and ownership of objectives earlier than typical in larger companies. You will help build processes as the function scales.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions on policy, benefits, payroll, time off, and HR systems, resolving routine matters independently and escalating those with legal or precedent-setting implications.
  • Own HRIS accuracy, including employee records, onboarding workflows, time off tracking, and organizational data integrity.
  • Run onboarding and offboarding end-to-end, including new hire paperwork, I-9 and E-Verify processing, orientation, equipment coordination, and exit interviews.
  • Manage recruiting coordination alongside the Talent Acquisition Specialist, including job descriptions, interview scheduling, offer paperwork, and background checks.
  • Prepare, audit, and submit payroll changes in coordination with the Director of Human Resources and Finance.
  • Administer benefits programs, including open enrollment, qualifying life events, carrier reconciliation, COBRA, and leave administration under FMLA, ADA, and applicable state programs.
  • Maintain compliance recordkeeping, including personnel file retention and handbook acknowledgments, and proactively flag upcoming obligations and gaps.
  • Partner with the Director of Human Resources to audit and update HR processes, standard operating procedures, and documentation as regulations, headcount, and business needs change.
  • Document employee relations matters accurately and support investigations with well-organized records.
  • Partner with Operations on OSHA recordkeeping and workplace safety documentation, ensuring injury and illness records, training documentation, and required postings stay accurate and current.
  • Compile recurring HR reporting on headcount, turnover, time to fill, and paid time off liability, and surface trends worth a closer look.

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, equivalent professional experience, or a combination of both.
  • Unwavering discretion and professionalism handling confidential employee information, with the judgment to know what stays private and what needs to be raised immediately.
  • Working command of core HR fundamentals, including benefits administration, leave, payroll processing, employment recordkeeping, and compliance obligations.
  • Hands-on experience supporting employees in more than one state, with a working understanding of how employment requirements differ between them (New Jersey and Texas exposure is a plus).
  • 2 to 4 years of successful experience as an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, People Operations Generalist, or similar role, ideally at a startup, early-stage, or high-growth company where you wore several hats.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (BambooHR or similar), applicant tracking systems, and the Microsoft ecosystem. NetSuite, PEO systems, or Learning and Development systems are a bonus.
  • Actively building your HR career and want a role where scope expands as the company grows, rather than one that stays static.
  • Manage your own workload without oversight, follow through without reminders, and raise problems early rather than after they compound.

About You

You think like a builder—energized by growth, problem-solving, and figuring things out as you go. You care deeply about doing great work and hitting goals, track progress, stay focused, and hold yourself to high standards. You work well across teams, communicate clearly, and know when to take the lead or lend a hand. You don’t wait for perfect conditions; you move forward with purpose.

Pay

The starting compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 USD, determined based on candidate experience.

Schedule

Typical working hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST, Monday through Friday. This is an exempt position under FLSA standards. The role requires up to 10% travel, fully paid by the company, for company events, site visits, or recruitment events as needed.

Benefits

  • Employer-covered premiums for Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance—100% covered for employees.
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer contribution (fixed percentage of pay).
  • Paid Time Off and Holidays for a healthy work-life balance.
  • Paid Parental Leave.
  • Life and Disability Insurance to help protect you and your loved ones.
