Essential Functions
- Manages and resolves employee relations issues with minimal oversight.
- Counsels with management and influences decision making with HR guidance.
- Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Develops processes, procedures and HR documents and influences others to utilize them.
- Maintains new-hire orientations and paperwork, benefits enrollment, and other training as assigned.
- Recruits and retains employees in assigned business unit, using influence to improve metrics.
- Acquires and maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Provides performance management guidance (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, etc.) and creates associated documentation of processes.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention, creating and tracking against and improving KPI’s.
- Processes and administers leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation for assigned business unit.
- Assists in the creation of department documents and carries out various human resource programs and procedures for all company employees.
- Manages recruitment efforts for exempt and non-exempt personnel; maintains applicant data tracking system and works to improve efforts through KPI’s.
- Assists in developing evaluations and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.
- Continually attains knowledge related to day-to-day management of employees in order to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times. Assure confidential information is secure at all times.
- Maintains employee records and files as needed including digital files.
- Operates HRIS including reviewing timecards and adjusting information.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
- Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
- Work Environment: The employee regularly works in an office setting, but also travels to farms and processing plants where PPE (personal protective equipment) is required.
- Physical Demands: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Repetitive fine hand movement (such as typing). Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.
- Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Travel: Local travel to various worksites is required.
Required Education and Experience
- Extensive knowledge of employee relations and applicable laws.
- A bachelor's degree in human resource management and 3-5 years of experience in human resources, or any similar combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
Preferred Education and Experience
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Professional Human Resources (PHR)
- Bi-lingual (Spanish)
