Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with all operations group departments to assist in employee relations efforts and provide counseling to employees as necessary.
  • Assist with recruiting for hourly, administrative, and management positions.
  • Participate in interviews and assist staff members in identifying and creating job-related interview questions.
  • Provide research and statistical information to staff for collecting, preparing, and analyzing data to implement procedures and policies.
  • Review employee complaints and ensure accurate and timely documentation of concerns.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain employee handbook and policies.
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems; recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve department efficiency and services.
  • Maintain the human resource information system.
  • Assist in various activities for training and development of employees, including creating training programs and conducting training sessions.
  • Provide day-to-day benefits administration assistance to employees.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Assist and provide support in safety and wellness initiatives/programs.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other relevant meetings.
  • Lead by example to ensure the highest quality manufacturing practices are met (food safety responsibilities).
  • Ensure team members follow all Ken’s Food Safety and GMP policies.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Ensure team members produce product free of contamination.
  • Ensure team members report any suspicious activities in or around the plant.
  • Ensure team members inspect work areas for potential product contamination issues continuously.
  • Commitment to safety; managers and frontline supervisors are accountable for creating and maintaining a culture of safety.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related business field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ related experience and/or training in a related field.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Able to work alone on a broad variety of projects.

  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Perform tasks involving high levels of cognitive function and judgment.
  • Not mentally or physically impaired from any cause that can adversely affect the ability to safely perform duties.
  • Ability to take prompt and appropriate responses to operating conditions.
  • Ability to work in an unfatigued state.
  • Ability to accurately gauge lengths of time and distance.
  • Ability to quickly store and recall instructions in short-term memory.
  • Ability to concentrate.
  • Ability to cope with sudden changes in surroundings, emergency situations, and/or alarms.

Work Environment

  • Position requires shift work, including weekends.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Frequently in the manufacturing facility; exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and explosives.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions. PHR certification is preferred but not required.
