Compa is looking for an HR Generalist to help build and scale our people function as we grow.
Responsibilities
- Lead new hire onboarding to ensure every employee starts with a great experience
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions on policies, benefits, and HR processes
- Support benefits administration including enrollment, changes, leave management, and vendor coordination
- Maintain accurate employee records in Rippling and process all employment changes (hires, terminations, promotions, LOA)
- Ensure HR practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO)
- Cook up performance review cycles and support managers in development planning and corrective action
- Generate HR reports and people metrics to support leadership decision-making
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of HR policies, programs, and internal tools
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- 2–4 years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar people-focused role
- Solid working knowledge of core HR disciplines—employee relations, benefits, payroll and employment law
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms (preferably Rippling) and Google Workspace or Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization
- High ownership mindset—you proactively spot issues and drive solutions without waiting to be asked
- Scrappy and resourceful—comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, high-growth environment
- Discreet and professional when handling sensitive or confidential information
Qualifications
- Nice to have: HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent
- Experience supporting a multi-state or distributed workforce
- Familiarity with HRIS systems - Rippling
- Startup or high-growth company experience
- Experience with leave administration and reasonable accommodation processes

Benefits
Compa offers a competitive compensation range of $100K - $145K, commensurate with experience.
