About the role
This HR Generalist role supports a growing organization of approximately 115 employees. The position is highly visible and hands-on, with a strong focus on payroll while also supporting onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations across multiple states. The HR Generalist will help refine and scale HR processes as the organization continues to expand.
Responsibilities
- Process biweekly payroll accurately and on time using payroll systems, with a preference for Paychex Flex.
- Support day-to-day HR operations for approximately 115 employees in a growing organization.
- Conduct employee onboarding and orientation activities, ensuring a smooth and positive new hire experience.
- Prepare, coordinate, and maintain training materials and programs to support employee development.
- Aid employees with benefits enrollment, questions, and access to benefits-related resources.
- Maintain accurate HRIS records and employee documentation using systems such as Employee Navigator.
- Ensure compliance with multi-state employment laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Assist with HR projects, including policy updates, process improvements, and HR operations initiatives.
- Contribute to employee engagement programs and activities that support a positive workplace culture.
- Participate in organizational change management efforts as the company grows and HR processes evolve.
- Potentially assist with recruiting efforts, including reviewing applicants, coordinating interviews, and conducting initial phone screens.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of HR experience in a generalist or similar HR role.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience processing biweekly payroll.
- Demonstrated experience supporting HR administrative functions and employee-facing HR activities.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a small, two-person HR team environment.
- Familiarity with HR compliance and documentation practices, including recordkeeping and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll, HRIS data, and employee records.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to support employees and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple HR responsibilities in a growing organization.
Qualifications
- Experience using Paychex Flex for payroll processing.
- Experience using Employee Navigator or similar HRIS/benefits platforms.
- Exposure to or experience with multi-state HR compliance requirements.
- Recruiting and candidate screening experience, including initial phone interviews.
- Experience supporting or participating in change management initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.
- Interest in helping refine and scale HR processes in a growing organization.
